Il y a quelques semaines avait lieu notre conference annuel entre doctorants, sur le campus cotier de l'ANU a Kioloa. C'est l'occasion de savoir un peu ce que font les autres doctorants et de lier contact avec les noveaux doctorants arriver au RSES (Les photos sont principalement d'Alberto et Ekaterina)

A few weeks ago, wer had our annual conference for PhD students on the ANU coastal campus at Kioloa. This was the opportunity to know a bit more about other PhD's studies and make contact with students newly arrived at RSES (Pictures are mainly from Alberto and Ekaterina)

Pendant mon voyage aller, j'etais sense passer 8h a Bangkok avant de reprendre l'avion pour Vienne. C'etait donc l'occasion de rencontrer John & Renee (mon ancien co-kotteur) qui vivent a Bangkok depuis mars. Par un heureux hasard, Kevin & Jess (celui dont on a fait l'enterrement de vie de jeune homme en aout 2007) etait egalement a Bangkok, apres un tour du monde. On s'est donc tous rencontrer dans le night bazaar pour quelques bieres. Bien amusant.

For my ongoing trip, I was supposed to stay 8h in Bangkok before taking the plane back to Vienna, We took the opportunity to see John & Renee (John was my previous housemate) who live in Bangkok since March. By chance, Kevin & Jess (Kev is the guy we did his bux party in august 2007) were also in bangkok, after a around the world trip. We all met in the night bazaar market for a few beers. It was very nice.

Ce qu'il s'est passe ensuite, bin on a choppe probablement le seul taxi de Bangkok qui ne savait pas ou se trouvait l'aeroport international...donc j'ai rate mon vol...bin oui, ca arrive...
et 40 jours plus tard, j'etais de retour a bangkok

What happen later on, well, we probably took the only cab in bangkok who didn't know where was the international airport...so I missed my flight....yes, it happens...
and 40 days later, I was back to Bangkok



Et voila ce qu'il m'attendait, une tempete tropicale sur Bangkok et 30 a 50cm de flotte dans les rues...
And this is what was waiting for me, a tropical strom over Bangkok with 30 to 50cm of water in the streets.


Un diner moyen-oriental a Khao San Rd, le quartier toutou par excellence de Bangkok (mais rien a voir avec Nanaa). Tres bonne bouffe d'ailleurs.

Cette soiree ou on etait bien demonte s'est terminee dans un bar a chicha a fumer du tabac au raisin jusque je sais pas quel heure. Mais c'etait cool

Well, we were quitte charged already and we end up in a chicha bar on the rooftops of Khao San Rd, smoking grape tobacco till late in the night. Very nice


Un diner plus local, plus thailandais et rustique. Au menu, larves, grillons, grenouilles et sauterelles, le tout frit dans une huile infame..

A local snack, more thailandish and rustical. For tonight : larva, grubs, frogs and grasshoppers, all fried in a yucky oil :-D
